Xray Filming Tips

Bloged in News by Axel Friday November 11, 2005

For those of you interested in doing some x-ray stuff here are some general suggestions and tips for camera setups, as well as,
methods of covert filming.

  1. NEVER film a minor (under 18)
because it’s wrong number one and police can use existing laws and new xray
and voyeur laws to bust you for some serious time (up to 10 years) and serious
money (up to $50,000.00), though not usually on first offense.
  2. Plan your work and work your plan. It’s important to research all the
aspects of the event you plan to film for at least a week
or more…BEFORE you even go to film it. sometimes a few dry runs and walk
through in person without cam to "feel out" the area to be filmed…checking for security counter measures that may be in place that you don’t know about…such as
mall security cams…parking lot cams…private security guards on look out for voyeurs in particular, etc.
  3. Always have at least ONE ESCAPE ROUTE
  4. Never film near jealous boyfriend
  5. Never film near mothers with small children (they very suspicious…and
may alert others, even if you not filming them)
  6. Never film liberated women, NOW women, or femi-nazis… they are really
into personal rights and privacy issues. Besides, who would want to film them anyway?
  7. Go to places where a lot of cameras are expected and accepted…such as athletic events, swim meets, parades, resorts, conventions, outdoor festivals, beauty pageants, fireworks displays, and other public events.
  8. Never film in town where you live or near where you live…in case you recognized.
  9. Don’t do anything to draw attention to you.
  10. Film only long enough for some nice stills or a short movie (always under 1 minute)
  11. Don’t keep much evidence (tapes) on your person, and/or in your car
  12. Don’t park car near where you filming…walk a small distance to your location.
  13. Use a 2x or 3x telephoto digital camcorder lens to hide your infrared
    (dark glass) lens.
  14. Despite all the news and media blitz about Sony xray nightshot
camcorders, I guess that about 50 per cent still don’t know about them, 25 per cent
probably want to see the footage you are getting. The other 25 per cent are usually
strict, lawdog, hypocritical types that want you busted for xraying, but will excuse
themselves for adultery and cheating on their taxes, for example.
  15. Wet, thin, and artificial fibers such as nylon, polyester, rayon, lycra, spandex, etc. are your "friends".
  16. Consider customizing you camcorder with the following options:
    1. 2x and 3x digital telephoto lens from sony, tiffen, and kenko
    2. hoya, heliopan, mk 1000 and 900 infrared filters
    3. spotting scopes 15x to 60 x with camcorder adapters and tripods…so you can shoot from motel on your next vacation
    4. 90 degree lens attachments with mirrors that let you shoot 90 degrees to right or left, while camcorders is pointed straight.
    5. neutral density and circular polarizing lenses to help reduce "white out flooding effect" and glare in sony modified cams
